I can’t believe it is already the last week of September and I am posting my third monthly prompt. And this one was great. I sat and thought about it for quite some time before I worked out how I would tackle it. The prompt was:
Journaling Challenge: Live your adventurous dreams on paper. What would you love to do, or at least try, if you had the courage to live more adventurously? I would, for example, like to live on a houseboat or a train wagon.
Art Challenge: Try a method or material you’ve never worked with before. Be adventurous!
So my approach was to journal a bucket list of things I would love to do if on,y I was brave.
And I decided to go for a really messy art approach with lots of layers and different techniques. I’ve discovered over the last few weeks that I like simple pages and water colours when Journalling so using layers of paper and gesso and mists and pictures and embellishments was way out of my comfort zone. I’m happy with the result but I don’t think I’ll be using that style all that often.
Apart from the prompt I have also made a couple of other tiny pages – back in my trusted style.
A simple stamped background (in gold) with a simple quote and a patterned background with embellishments and a quote. Easy but fun.
Can’t wait to find out what the next prompt is.

Your adventures sound real good, especially the first. Should have been on my list too 😉
I’m not sure if it’s because everything is so tiny, but I’m absolutely obsessed with the small squares that you journal on! Such a great response to the prompt, I love your style! xx Bec
Thanks Bec. I love my tiny album a lot!
I think your pages are lovely! I love how you did the background for your list. That is what I should have done because I have never put down just random paint before.
Random painting is fun 🙂
I love all of these pages. The ones where you went outside of your norm as well as the ones where you trusted your style. ❤
Thank you
I really like the look of the background colors on the page where you listed your adventures. Great texture and it doesn,t take away from the writing.
Thanks Vanessa
I love coming here every Thursday to see what you have done and you never disappoint!
I’m glad you keep coming back Kellie. That’s a real compliment.
I love your little pages. It is very clear that your are much happier with your normal style which is beautiful.
That’s true. I’m much happier with simple pages.
Lets all be brave and quit our jobs and make art journals all day!
Let’s do it!
How cool would that be!
Love that list! I would even encourage you to push yourself to do one or two of them! Hellicopters scare the heck out of me, but I did quit my day job last year! Not to craft, truth be told… though the more pages I do, the more I find myself thinking just how awesome it would be to wake up each day and have nothing to do but my art journal pages haha!
I think your pages are really great – both the layers and the more minimal ones. I still can’t get over how nimble your fingers must be though since your pages seem smaller than other journals I’ve seen. I love it 🙂 Ho fun it must be to finish a journal and have this beautiful tiny bunch of creative pages to look back on.
Thank you for you thoughtful comment Eliza. I am working on that list. Well not all of it but some things are definitely doable. I just need to be brave. My tiny album is almost full! I’m not sure whether to get another or try something different. I really love the tiny pages – they are just the right size for me to get a few done each week. I get overwhelmed with a bigger workspace now.
