Get Messy | Collage

Hi everyone – Get Messy time again.

I have to admit I was feeling the pressure of getting my journal pages done last week with all of posts in the Get Messy Facebook group. But I sat down on Saturday afternoon and things just flowed. My teeny tiny journal album is perfect for quick pages and batch processing. I know I keep going on about my small album but I really love it.

Anyhoo – onto my spread.

I played around with texture past again. That stuff is so fun!

I’m not sure why but there is a bit of a crazy vibe coming from these pages. Not sure what happened there. But the results are cool I think. I really let my hair down and just went with it. No overthinking this one.

Next up is a little floral goodness.

Magazine clippings, song lyrics and sharpie fine liners. Simple but I really love this combo.

See you all next week.

Get Messy | Scrapbook Style

Hi there

I am back with my next instalment of Get Messy Art Journal pages.

This week I have been experimenting with different mediums a bit to see if I can find my ‘style’. I think these pages are a bit too much like scrap book pages but at least there was some messiness (with texture paste) and artiness (with water colour pencils).

I have been scanning old photo negatives lately and have gotten very nostalgic about my first born’s early years. He was such a cute and happy baby. So I really wanted to use this extra special photo of him and our first born fur baby (who by the way turns 19 in October).  I used texture paste that I coloured with some misting ink as a base. I love this effect and will be playing with this a bit more in the future.

For my second layout I decided to work on an artists impression of my summer vegetable patch. I love my vege patch and planning what I am going to plan this summer is so exciting. I sketched everything roughly first and then hit it with the water colour pencils. Also something I hadn’t played with before. I think I still need some practice, but it came together fairly well.

I’ve also been working on my prompt layout – can’t wait to post that one next week. Until then, happy art journalling everyone, and if you want to join in, see the information below about our fun little group.
